About the Author

Liz Prato is an writer and editor whose work has appeared in dozens of literary journals including Salon and Baltimore Reviewand is the author of Baby’s on Fire: Stories. In her latest quick-witted collection of essays, Volcanoes, Palm Trees, and PrivilegePrato explores what is means to be a tourist in a land that has been largely formed and destroyed by white outsiders through case-studies on Hawaiian history, pop culture, and contemporary affairs, forming an intimate love letter to the land and people of Hawai’i. Alongside her passion for writing and teaching, Prato is the Editor-at-Large for Forest Avenue Press, and lives with her husband just outside of Portland, Oregon.
